Mrs. Winston's Fridge Facts- August 27, 2016
First, I would like to give a BIG thank you to all the parents who have generously donated items from my giving tree. You help keep our classroom running smoothly! Thanks again for sharing your wonderful children with me. Each week, I have the opportunity to learn a bit more about their wonderful personalities and it is such a pleasure to watch them learn and grow!
We had a great week! Students continue to show how well they have adjusted to our daily routines and rules. We completed letters F-I in our letter books, read and discussed many great stories, READ our decodeable reader story, learned about and practiced Read to Partner in Daily 5, learned our 2 new sight words which were blue and they, enjoyed math activities with our Envision Math robot, continued our baseline assessments, and finished the week with the story Rainbow Fish and a related project. We enjoyed our snack of rainbow goldfish crackers and swedish fish too! We watched our new playground appear outside our classroom and can't wait to play on it next week.
In the week to come we will receive a new decodeable reader, do our first reading story about Pip the penguin, complete letters J-M in our letter books, learn our 2 new sight words which will be yellow and of, continue Writer's Workshop and Daily 5 activities, and continue practicing counting and writing our numbers in Math. We are excited to have Professor Frog (the puppet) come to start our science lessons this week too.
Celebrations- 9 perfect papers on our mini quiz on letters and sightwords Friday! Yeah.
Please continue to read with your child nightly- reading calendars are due each Friday.
Upcoming events:
No School - Sept. 5th Labor Day
