MRS. WINSTON'S LAST FRIDGE FACTS- May 21, 2017
Welcome to Mrs. Winston's Kindergarten Page
Hi All,
Happy Sunday-
Although excitement is high our kindergarten kiddos finished the week strong.- All A's on our LAST spelling test. Hurrah!
As our time together draws to a close, I must admit I am feeling a bit emotional. I look at these little ones who came to me in August and I absolutely marvel at the progress they have made- academically, socially, and behaviorally. The beginning of the year was marked with many tears and frustrations. The kids needed many, many reminders and were so "needy." Every morning now I marvel how they come in smiling and laughing, put away their things and sit down and begin working. They transition well between activities and at the end of the day, take care of getting themselves ready for home and never leave a mess for me to clean. They have learned to see things that need to be done and do them without being asked. A proud moment this week was when we were coming in from P.E. The kids noticed a lot of trash near the fence and without being asked picked it all up and threw it away. Academically, I am most proud that we can say that EVERY student in our class can read!!
All this being said, I can't begin to thank all of my families for sharing your little ones with me this year. Your work with your child and your support throughout the school year has been such a blessing to me. A million thanks for all the cards and gifts throughout the year and for the many classroom donations that came pouring in when I expressed a need. Thank you to all who volunteered their time for parties, for clerical help, for assisting with Daily 5, and for chaperoning for our field trips. It has been my pleasure to work with you and your child.
The week ahead:
Tuesday- our class picnic at Largo Park & awards ceremony
Wednesday- Would a few people be willing to send in some filled water balloons? I thought it might be fun to cool off with some water fun after music class.
Thursday- Report Cards going home- Celebration Breakfast with juice and donut holes, can you please send your child with a favorite board game for us to play, and T shirt signing. Please send (not wear) your kindergarten shirt or plain t-shirt for signing. Please remember 1:10 dismissal - no after care available.
Be on the look out for some sight word Bingo games coming home and some decodable readers. To help your child be ready for the challenges of first grade please be sure to continue to have your child read this summer and continue to practice counting, letter sounds, writing, and adding and subtracting.
Again, can't thank you enough for all your support!
Happy Summer!
